Instructions for authors

Reports on Epidemiology and Medical Statistics publishes articles related to medicine statistics, health sciences along with the causes, effects of diseases for distinct population.

Each article type published by Reports on Epidemiology and Medical Statistics follows a specific format to maintain diverse appearance for reader’s convenience. Therefore the authors will be guided to meet the submission criteria of corresponding article type with the author’s responsibilities and manuscript preparation and submission.

Work submitted to REMS journal must be original, previously unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

The following includes detailed descriptions as to what should be included in each particular type of article. Please note that all word counts indicated for each type of article include the abstract and do not include the references or figure legends.

Original Articles

Original articles present completely novel research, new findings or breakthroughs related to the fields that were not published before. The report may contain major outcomes, methodology, significance and extensive facts to the conclusion. These articles should be no more than 6000 words with an abstract of 350 words, a maximum of 5 tables and 5 figures, and up to 40 references.

Research Articles

Research Articles should be completely predictable reports of original research. The conclusions of the research article should evidently be supported by the results. These can be submitted no more than 6000 words or a concise communication (no more than 2800 words) with an abstract of 300 words, a maximum of 5 tables and figures (total), and up to 40 references.

Review Articles

Reviews provide a consistent study and assessment of a particular subject of research. These can be submitted as a mini-review (less than 3000 words, 3 figures, and 2 tables) or a long review (no more than 6000 words, 6 figures and 3 tables). They should include critical review of defined area highlighting new questions and pointing to future research directions.

Case Reports

Case reports describe an unusual disease appearance, a new treatment, an unpredicted drug interaction, a new investigative method, or a difficult diagnosis that have not previously been reported. Case reports should include relevant positive and negative findings and can include clinical photographs. These articles should be no more than 5000 words with no more than 6 figures and 3 tables.

The revised manuscript has to be sent within 14 days (May be variable based on the correction type) via email attachment to editorrems@vipoa.org.
